Default Post your Mesmer PvE Hard Mode build(s)

Since mesmers now seem to have more potential in PvE due to the release of hard mode, I thought it would be a good idea to share what builds people have used and where. Being a very diverse class that has very few cookie cutter builds, it may be helpful to share this information to assist other fellow mesmers making their way through hard mode.

So far, I have only really played my mesmer through early Ascalon missions, but have had a lot of success with the following domination build:

Attributes:
Domination - 16
Fast Casting - 11
Inspiration - 10 (I run with a major insp rune along with the sup domination, but this may not be preferred by other players)
Healing Prayers - 2

Skills:
[skill]Empathy[/skill][skill]Mistrust[/skill][skill]Backfire[/skill][skill]Shatter Hex[/skill][skill]Shatter Enchantment[/skill][skill]Energy Tap[/skill][skill]Energy Drain[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

Template Code:
OQNEAqwD2yoBmecghQRAK8EQjA

I used a basic energy denial build briefly before with moderate success, but found the previous build worked the best in the area. The e-denial build I tried was:

Attributes:
Same as previous

Skills:
[skill]Mind Wrack[/skill][skill]Energy Burn[/skill][skill]Energy Surge[/skill][skill]Signet of Weariness[/skill][skill]Spirit Shackles[/skill][skill]Ether Feast[/skill][skill]Energy Tap[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

The biggest shortcoming of this build was that it lacked an enchantment and hex removal. It may work in other areas where melee enemies are more energy based and/or monks are harder to shutdown with normal tactics.

I have noticed that at least one enchantment removal is an absolute MUST! so far... I've played through all of the ascalon missions so far and I cant say enough how useful it was. Also, with all of the charr eles packing a 2.5 second cast Meteor Shower, an interrupt was definitely helpful as well. Mostly I just played a standard Inpetitude build, to great success

16 Illusion (3+1)
13 Inspiration (+1)
3 Fast Casting

Ineptitude {E}
Clumsiness
Signet of Clumsiness
Illusion of Pain
Ether Feast
Auspicious Incantation
Discharge Enchantment
Resurrection Chant

Domination: 16+1+3 (I have a +1+1 mask in case of death penalty)
Deadly Art: 10
Fast casting: 7
Illusion: 3

[skill]empathy[/skill][skill]backfire[/skill][skill]shatter enchantment[/skill][skill]unnatural signet[/skill][skill]phantom pain[/skill][skill]shatter delusions[/skill][skill]Assassin's promise[/skill][skill]Resurrection signet[/skill]

The purpose of the build is to spam empathy and backfire thanks to the elite Assassin's promise. It serves the double purpose of energy management and reloading all skills on target death.
The phantom pain/shatter delusion combo is used for a big spike, and unnatural signet is there to follow if the spike wasn't enough.

If your elite hex is not removed, this build energy management is amazing for a mesmer, a net +10 energy when something dies. Fast casting helps using AP quickly before something dies.

Shatter enchantment proved itself very useful as removal and damage source.

Cheers,
Utaku

Fast Casting - 8+1
Illusion Magic - 12+1+1
Inspiration Magic - 10+1
Healing Prayers - 2

[skill]Images of remorse[/skill][skill]Conjure Phantasm[/skill][skill]Phantom Pain[/skill][skill]Signet of Clumsiness[/skill][skill]Illusion of Weakness[/skill][skill]Inspired Enchantment[/skill][skill]Energy Drain[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

The degen can kill most weak foes if the combo is done, even without Mantra of Persistance, I've killed lots of things with it, also it can be used to spread degen across a large number of foes. The signet of clumsiness I usually use as a save or to take off a bit of remaining health of a foe. The Illusion of Weakness is cast before battles, in pve it works very well, and can usually save you when monks can't. "D Inspired enchantment takes off enemy enchantments while supplying energy. Energy drain is used as a fast energy boost. And Res. Chant is ofcourse, used to res. fallen party members quickly.

I've never gone below 31 energy<51/58(Depends which suit I wear) energy max>, and am usually the last to die<Usually, I'm the one who runs away and revives everyone who is dead when we all see that we are going to die...> No +2/+3 needed, and they take off valuable max hp. :.

It works for me, and it might work for you~ I don't know. "D

Fast Casting - 9+1
Illusion Magic - 12+1+1
Inspiration Magic - 9+1
Healing Prayers - 3

[skill]Images of remorse[/skill][skill]Migraine[/skill][skill]Phantom Pain[/skill][skill]Signet of Clumsiness[/skill][skill]Illusion of Weakness[/skill][skill]Inspired Enchantment[/skill][skill]Energy Tap[/skill][skill]Resurrection Chant[/skill]

This one I've found works better as it adds more effects. However you will die more without illusion of weakness, though that shouldn't be much of a problem with a proper team. Its about the same, but migrane casters and etc. The energy isn't nearly as well kept, so it might become a problem if you like to spam spells...

Spam the hexes and nukes, and deal as much damage as possible, whilst using AI on MoR to gain energy at the casting of and at the end of Mantra of Recall.

Works so well

I have only gone through The Great Northern Wall for bonus in HM, but used a basic domination build with ease, it looks like even in the long run these sorts of build will be a good start.

Backfire
Empathy
Diversion
Guilt
Arcane Echo
Energy Tao
Mantra of Recovery
Rez Sig

I was goofing off in the Plains of Jaran with this build. And yes, I know, has no res. No deaths in hard mode vanquishing that area.

Restore Life resurrects with more energy?

It's quiker to heal someone with 68% health to 100% health than wait for someone with 11% energy to regen the rest of it.

I like to use a team up build for my mesmer that combines with Norgu

Me (16 in Domination):
[skill]Energy Drain[/skill] [skill]Empathy[/skill] [skill]Mind Wrack[/skill] [skill]Power Spike[/skill] [skill]Power Leak[/skill] [skill]Guilt[/skill] [skill]Ignorance[/skill] [skill]Ether Feast[/skill]

Norgu (16 in Illusion):
[skill]Ineptitude[/skill] [skill]Spirit Shackles[/skill] [skill]Spirit of Failure[/skill] [skill]Frustration[/skill] [skill]Signet of Clumsiness[/skill] [skill]Clumsiness[/skill] [skill]Signet of Humility[/skill] [skill]Ether Feast[/skill]

Its combines well to work against both Melee and Casters and although Norgu isnt the brightest it works very well. Although im sure a human 2nd mesmer would run his build even better. Its a great way of taking out single targets very easily and fast.

Occasionally ill use my Necro to assist us even more with SS, Energy Burn, Shatter Enchant, another Power Spike, Reckless Haste, Soul Barbs and Parasitic Bond

68% is true with 16 healing prayers...

I still like Rez Chant better, as the only condition for a full health rez is your own health, and with enough fast casting, it's as long as a rez signet to activate...

Default an old Me/E build.

Basically u need a melee mob hitting on ya to generate mana while nuking the rest.

i can't remember the exact build but its mainly:
Fastcast ~ 10, AirMagic ~16, rest in Inspiration

[skill]Spirit of Failure[/skill][skill]Ether Feast[/skill][skill]Blinding Flash[/skill][skill]Elemental Attunement[/skill][skill]Air Attunement[/skill][skill]Lightning Javelin[/skill][skill]Lightning Strike[/skill][skill]Lightning Orb[/skill]

this build is quite straight forward, u'll only need to put up attunements, blind a mob and drop spirit of failure on it. after than u can spam nukes from AirMagic line or put Blind+SpiritOfFailure combo on more mobs.

Why use mesmers as DPS class when all other classes to that better?
The only reason to even bring a mesmer in pve is because some foes in HM are too devastating to not be shut down.
Cry of Frustration is king in pve, Mistrust, Guilt, Diversion, Shatter are other things that help kill most kinds of foes. Power Block is awesome.

Agreed, I can't belive all the builds trying to cause damage. This was a mesmer thread right?

What u said is true for a single class. however, when considering combo formed from mixing skillz of 2 classes, mesmer can have the highest DPS due to fastcast.

as far as i have seen, nothing dps better than the Me/E build above, given the right situation (not to mention it can shut down any number or melee/range mobs while able to upkeep the huge dps).

Spamming 3 Nukes which have very short cooldown, with fastcast and full AirMagic not doing the highest dps? i cant think of anything else that does more ...
